Aboard a steamship sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in 1874, widower John Andrews delights the restless minds of his two children with a tale of courage, hope, war, and true love that begins with the end of the world.
John
Widower, single father, storyteller. He is our guide through the cast of characters and events. He wants his children to feel the same sense of mission he does but is patient enough to let them find their own way there.
Ellen
A rebel, whose cause is health and healing. Ellen longs for a world with no more pain and suffering. She seeks a brighter future. She is given visions and speaks up in a world dominated by men, often to her detriment.
Charles &Mary
Charles wants a story with adventures and battles, and Mary wants romance and love. Together they’ll discover the real reason they’re on this journey.
Joseph
A retired sea captain who steadies the ship. Joseph gives up everything for the cause and the hope of the world to come. It will very nearly cost him everything in the here and now.
William
William was just a simple farmer until war changed everything. A miraculous survival leads him to question his beliefs and discover a prophecy that will literally end the world.
What is the universal story in THE HOPEFUL?
I wanted to tell a story about anticipation, because we all live in anticipation of something. THE HOPEFUL is full of anticipation, and you will feel the hope, the disappointment, the confusion, the joy, the majesty, the mission and the love as you are swept up in the lives of these incredible people.
